Ge Heyue, deputy general manager of COSCO Shipping Container Lines, said that the route will provide weekly service, with 3,000 standard cabins per flight, focusing on the eastern countries of South America including Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay and European countries such as Britain, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium, providing more schedule choices for customers in the two regions, promoting economic and trade exchanges between the two places and ensuring the stability of the supply chain. The birth of the new route reflects the determination of COSCO Shipping to help the economic development of Brazil and other countries in South America. Alvaro Savio, director of the Port Authority of Rio de Janeiro, said in his maiden voyage ceremony that the opening of this route will increase the cargo flow in and out of Rio Port, bring more income to Rio State, and bring convenience to the commodity export of neighboring Minas Gerais. 

Kathleen Garcia, deputy director of the Economic Development Department of Minas Gerais, said that the opening of the route is of great significance to Minas Gerais, which is located inland but has growing import and export demand. More locally produced high-quality goods will be linked to the maritime transport channel through inland channels and sent to consumers; In addition, the participation of China shipping enterprises in the operation of Brazil's inland passage will bring confidence to more China enterprises to invest in the state. 

On the same day, COSCO Shipping also released Brazil's first inland channel service product. According to reports, this product integrates the supply chain nodes of railway transshipment, warehousing, distribution and customs clearance in Rio de Janeiro and minas gerais, and provides an integrated logistics solution, which will help reduce the comprehensive logistics cost and improve efficiency.
